Over 33,000 tourism sector employees vaccinated

The Tourism Ministry has stated that over 33,600 tourism sector employees working in COVID-19 frontlines have received the vaccine thus far.

The ministry commenced a program to vaccinate those working in the frontlines of the tourism sector earlier last month. According to the ministry's statistics, 33,368 people received the vaccine by April 14th.

While the Maldives has begun administering the second dose of the vaccine, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that those who complete the full dose of the vaccines can travel to islands without the need to quarantine. It has been over an year since those in the tourism sector have not been able to return to their islands due to travel restrictions within islands.

Over 35,000 people have received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the Maldives, and 278,000 people have received the first dose.
