The Maldives reported 1216 COVID-19 cases on Thursday as the archipelago celebrates Eid-al-Fitr.
According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), 1,216 people tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the country's tally to 41,308. Out of these, 1,013 cases were from capital Male' and the remaining 202 cases were reported form the atolls.
HPA said out of the cases reported on Thursday, 836 cases are positive cases from samples collected over the past 24 hours. The remaining cases are from backlog test samples collected over the last few days.
While 13,784 cases are active in the Maldives, 259 people are receiving treatment in hospital settings. 87 deaths have been recorded to date.
