The Maldives on Wednesday recorded a new COVID-19 death.
According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), a 73-year-old local male admitted at Hulhumale' COVID Facility passed away at 01:54 am. This is the 273rd COVID-19 death in the Maldives and the ninth death of the month.
The Maldives is currently experiencing an alarming surge in COVID-19 infections. While a record 2,813 positive cases were recorded over the past 24 hours, 16,673 cases are active at this time. Out of these, 57 people are admitted to hospitals.
