COVID-19: Maldives reports record-high number of positive cases

The Maldives on Wednesday recorded 2,813 COVID-19 cases. This is the highest daily number reported from the Maldives to date.

According to the Health Protection Agency (HOA), out of the 7,343 samples tested over the past 24 hours, 3,487 samples were tested in the Greater Male' Region. While 1,273 cases were reported from the capital, this gives a positivity rate of 37 for the city.

An additional 974 cases were reported from the atolls and 113 cases from resorts.

At this time, 16,673 cases are active, and 57 people are admitted to hospitals. 272 COVID-19 deaths have been reported to date.
