The Maldives on Tuesday reported 1,004 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), 835 cases were recorded from the Greater Male' Region while 169 cases were reported from the atolls, including resorts and liveaboards. This increases the country's tally to 58,345, out of which 24,033 cases are active. 289 people are currently hospitalized and receiving treatment.
Two deaths were recorded over the past 24 hours increasing the country's toll to 144. 71 deaths have been recorded thus far this month compared to 51 deaths recorded between March and December 2020.
