Daily stats: Numbers fall below 1,000 after eleven days

The Maldives on Friday reported 901 confirmed cases of COVID-19. This is the first time the number of daily cases have fallen below 1,000 in eleven days.

According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), 468 cases were recorded from the Greater Male' Region while 428 cases were reported from the atolls, including resorts and liveaboards. This increases the archipelago's tally to 61,844, out of which 24,818 cases are active at this time. 252 people are currently hospitalized and receiving treatment.


Four deaths were recorded over the past 24 hours increasing the country's toll to 155. 78 deaths have been recorded thus far this month compared to 51 deaths recorded between March and December 2020.
