COVID-19 test kits and other medical equipment have been donated to Addu Equatorial Hospital.
The items were donated to the hospital by well wishers from the hospitality sector, including 105 resort workers and many other related contributors. The items include 1,000 test kits. CEO of the hospital, Dr. Mohamed Solih accepted the donation on behalf of the hospital. The hospital said the timely donation comes at a time when more test kits are needed by the hospital.
Addu City has reported 277 cases of COVID-19. 174 cases of COVID-19 are active in the southernmost atoll at this time. Only one is currently hospitalised for treatment. Most cases are reported from capital island, Hithadhoo, where 121 cases are active.
Special measures are in place in Addu City to curb the spread of the virus. In this regard, a curfew is in effect from 04:00 pm to 08:00 am. Special permits are necessary to go outside, and travel from one district to the other is restricted.
