The police have seized over 200 kg of drugs in an operation.
Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed said 215 kg of heroin was seized in a special operation carried out by the Drug Enforcement Department, Forensices, Raa Atoll Police and intelligence teams. The commissioner said two individuals were arrested in the anti narcotics operation, and acknowlegded assistance received from the Indian government in carrying out the operation.
Over 100 kg of drugs were seized on Friday as part of the same operation that began on Wednesday. 10 individuals aged between 19 and 61 were arrested, including foreigners. While two have been released, the Criminal Court has remanded four individuals in custody for 15 days, three for 10 days and one for five days.
