A police officer and three others have been arrested for human trafficking.
Maldives Police Service Monday said the four suspects were arrested on January 5. The individuals, all men, are aged between 28 and 65. A foreigner is also among those detained.
The police said the arrested officer has been placed under an unpaid suspension due to the ongoing criminal investigation. No further details were provided.
Two suspects have been remanded in custody for 15 days, while the remaining two were remanded for 10 days.
