Over thirty arrests linked to prostitution, human trafficking

Thirty-two people were arrested in various cases of prostitution and human trafficking last year, Maldives Police Service has said.

Police said 25 operations were conducted last year to curb prostitution and human trafficking in the Maldives. Police intelligence conducted 14 operations, while police and immigration conducted 11 joint operations. While six locals and 26 foreigners were arrested during these operations, the police said twenty-eight people were deported last year for prostitution and human trafficking.

Police investigated 11 cases of prostitution and human trafficking last year.
