Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has said the runway ABC works and subgrade works of Gdh. Faresmathoda Airport Development Project has been completed.
The construction and development of an airport in GDh Fares Maathoda were contracted to MTCC in November 2020. MTCC mobilized the project site in January 2021. The project valued at MVR 144.8 million includes the construction of a 1200m runway, taxiway, apron, and service roads with all operational facilities.
MTCC said while runway ABC works, and subgrade works have reached completion, the Terminal Building Steel structure assembly work is currently ongoing with 81% completion. They said that work on the taxiway, apron, and fire works are also ongoing.
MTCC initially targeted to complete the airport by November last year. However, the completion date has now been revised to before July 26.
