Four arrested in drug operation

Maldives Police Service seized 17 kilograms of drugs in an operation conducted on Sunday night.

The police Monday said the operation was conducted after the police were tipped off that a large number of drugs were being smuggled into the Maldives via air. Several boxes containing drugs were discovered on a pick-up truck that was stopped and searched at the Sosun Magu and Raiy Villa Magu intersection in capital Male'.

Four people between the ages of 27 and 37 have been arrested in connection to the case. The police said two of them are Maldivian nationals, while the remaining two are Bangladeshi nationals.

The police are investigating the case.
