The police on Thursday revealed the identities of two suspects involved in a drug case where 42 kilograms of drugs were discovered hidden under false flooring.
The drug operation was carried out on March 24 and 25 in Male' City by the Drug Enforcement Department and Narcotics Intelligence Department based on a tip they received. Two houses and an office in the capital city were searched, and two were arrested in the operation: Ahmed Hussain, 39, and Abdulla Nasheed, 46. Ahmed Hussain was a member of the Peoples' National Congress (PNC)'s Council Member at the time of the arrest. He has since been dismissed from the post.
When presented to the Criminal Court to decide on their remand, the court remanded Nasheed into custody for 15 days and Ahmed Hussain for ten days.
