Maldives Customs have seized drugs from an American citizen who arrived in the Maldives from Brazil.
According to Maldives Customs Service, the man arrived in the Maldives on May 11. He was flagged due to suspicions, and substances believed to be drugs were found in his luggage upon searching. Customs said initial testing has shown the substance is positive for cocaine.
The total weight of the drugs seized was 2.064 kg. The street value of the drugs is estimated at MVR 10 million.
Customs said the suspect and the seized drugs are in police custody.
