Home Minister Imran meets Turkish counterpart

Home Minister Imran Abdulla has met with his Turkish counterpart Süleyman Soylu.

Imran met the Turkish Home Minister Suleiman on Thursday on his current visit to Turkey at the minister's invitation.

During the meeting, Minister Imran said Turkey is an exemplary country and that he saw Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as an exemplary leader. The ministers discussed acquiring Turkey's expertise and technical assistance in combating religious extremism, terrorism, drug trafficking prevention, human resource development, and reintegrating offenders into society.

Minister Imran is scheduled to return to the Maldives on May 30th after concluding his visit to Turkey.

Minister Imran is accompanied by State Minister of State for Home Affairs Ali Nazeer, Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed, and Commissioner of Prisons Ahmed Mohamed Fulhu.
