Thailand's Bangkok Airways has resumed flights to the Maldives.
Previously, Bangkok Airways operated four weekly flights from Bangkok to the Maldives. However, the flights were suspended in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The first flight since the service resumption landed at Velana International Airport on Friday. Bangkok Airways will operate flights from Bangkok's Sunabhami International Airport to Velana International Airport. The flights are scheduled to operate on Tuesdays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Bangkok Airways tickets typically cost over $500.
Thai Air Asia also operates flights between Maldives and Bangkok, Thailand. The flights, which began on December 22, are operated twice a week.
While Thailand recently reopened its borders following the COVID-19 pandemic, those who have completed the vaccination are not required to be quarantined in Thailand.
