A Home Ministry employee and a teacher have been suspended for allegedly engaging in homosexual activities.
The two men were arrested after a video showing the pair having sex with Bangladeshi national MD Alamgiri was released on social media platforms.
A senior official from the Home Ministry has confirmed that one of the ministry's employees had been suspended in relation to the video. The Education Ministry has also confirmed that a teacher at a local school had been suspended in relation to the same video. However, no further details were provided by either ministry.
Several videos of Alamgiri engaging in sexual acts with high-profile characters have been leaked on social media, including a video of Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed's brother Nazim Abdul Sattar and former MP Mohamed 'Colonel' Nasheed. According to the police, over 200 people had similar relations with Alamgiri.
