The Maldives National Party (MNP) will hold its first congress on the 23 and 24 of this month.
In a press conference held Thursday to announce the party's congress date and launch the party's official logo, MNP's Spokesperson and Vice President, Shidhatha Shareef, said the congress would take place on 23rd and 24th September and that preparations were underway. She said the congress will be titled 'The National Convention 2022' and will be the best and most well-organized congress held in the Maldives to date.
A special session will be held on September 23, Friday, to kick off the congress. The Congress delegates and representatives will be welcomed by the Party's President and leadership. Senior party leaders are scheduled to deliver speeches at the session.
On September 24th, amendments will be proposed to MNP's Constitution and debated. According to Shidhatha, the opportunity would be opened for representatives to propose amendments to the Constitution. There will also be elections for some positions of the party. One session of the congress will also be devoted to discussing the policies formulated by the MNP.
Invitations to participate in the congress will be sent to the party branch presidents and vice-presidents. It will also be sent to the party's National Executive Council members, Parliamentary Group members, Councils, and Women's Development Committee members.
