Construction of a modern mosque in Thuraakunu kicks off

The practical work of building a modern mosque in HA. Thuraakunu has commenced.

The foundation stone of the mosque was laid at a ceremony held in Thuraakunu on Saturday by Islamic Minister Dr. Ahmed Zahir and Hoarafushi MP Ahmed Saleem.

The government signed an agreement with Micron Pvt Ltd on March 23 this year to build the Thuraakunu mosque. The contractor has been given a one-year period to finish the project.

The mosque, which is being built at a cost of MVR 10.6 million from the state budget, can accommodate 300 people.

According to the photos of the mosque's design that were publicized by the Islamic Ministry, the mosque is designed in an Islamic style with modern features.
