The list of eligible voters for the main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s presidential primary has been publicized and opened for complaints.
The list publicized by the party names 56,164 eligible voters. However, 94,211 were eligible to vote in the party's Chairperson Election held earlier this year. The turnout in the Chairperson Election was 48,107.
While 39,910 members have been removed from the MDP register, the current register will match the MDP's register maintained by the Elections Commission, the party's Chairman Fayyaz Ismail has said.

PPM - 6,357 members
JP - 3,788 members
MTD - 1,543 members
MDA - 3,086 members
MRM - 928 members
Adhalath Party - 1,711 members
Congress Party - 58 Members
MSDP - 875 members
DRP - 389 members
MNP - 3,845 members
PNC - 698 members
MDP has formed a complaints committee to look into complaints regarding the party's presidential primary. The deadline to submit complaints on the list of eligible voters is by 4:00 pm on December 31. The permanent list of voters for the MDP presidential primary will be announced in January.
The primary is scheduled to take place on January 28. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will be going head to head with MDP's President and Parliament Speaker, Mohamed Nasheed.
