Committee approves three nominations for Broadcom membership

The Parliament's Independent Institutions Committee has approved three candidates for the vacant membership of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (Broadcom).

The President's Office opened application for the Broadcasting Commission on January 12 following the resignation of commission member Ahmed Gais. The president nominated five applicants for Broadcom membership and submitted the names to the Parliament on February 8 for vetting and approval.

Broadcom is a seven-member commission. The commission is chaired by Mariyam Waheeda. The current members of the commission are Amjad Waheed, Ali Yusuf, Aminath Ameena, Mohamed Fazeen, and Shifla Ibrahim.

While Amjad's term on the commission is ending, the President's Office recently opened application for the post. The deadline for application expired on February 6.
