The Planning Ministry has formed a committee to oversee government housing programs, the 'Binveriyaa' and the 'Gedhoruveriyaa' housing scheme.
In June this year, the government opened the opportunity for Male' residents to apply for 3,000 out of 5,000 plots and 4,000 flats to be issued from the Greater Male' Area. While 15,164 applications were received for the 5,000 plots of land, 14,489 applications were received for three-bedroom flats. A further 6,208 applications were submitted for two-bedroom flats. At the opening of parliament this year, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced that additional land plots would be allocated from the Greater Male' area.
The Planning Ministry Wednesday said a special committee had been set up to evaluate the applicants for flats and land plots under both schemes and determine the recipients of flats and land plots.
The committee consists of five members:
