The Maldives Hajj Corporation has said that five percent of the government's quota for the Hajj pilgrimage will be reserved for those who have never performed Hajj before and are undergoing treatment for serious illnesses.
The Maldives has been given a quota of 1,000 people for this year's Hajj pilgrimage. The government is working to increase this amount to 2,500 people.
The Hajj Corporation Thursday said that five percent of its quota this year will be reserved for those who have not performed the obligatory Hajj and are suffering from life-threatening illnesses. The corporation has requested those currently on the corporation's list and meeting the above criteria to apply to perform Hajj this year. The deadline to submit the designated application is 2:00 pm on March 21.
