Immigration Controller resigns from Jumhooree Party

Immigration Controller Mohamed 'Hanafy' Ahmed has resigned from the Jumhooree Party.

Hanafy left the JP after being appointed as an advisor to JP leader Gasim Ibrahim earlier on Monday. He was appointed as Gasim's advisor after he lost the JP's internal election for the party's deputy leader post last month.

In his letter of resignation, Hanafi said he had done sincere work as a member of the JDP in recent days. He also thanked Gasim for his cooperation in the past few days.

In a letter sent to JP, Hanafy said he was leaving the party because he did not believe that JP's current ideology aligned with the best interest of the country. However, he did not elaborate.

Meanwhile, JP, which is part of the current ruling coalition, has decided to contest the upcoming presidential election separately and lead its own coalition. It is believed that Hanafy's decision to leave the party was influenced by JP's decision regarding the election.

Ahmed Sameer, who was a minister in the President's Office in a slot of the JP, has also recently left the party.
