Maldives Customs Service has seized more than a kilogram of drugs smuggled into the country via courier,
Customs said the items were seized while searching a package brought to the Maldives from the UK on April 15. Four packets of suspected drugs found inside the package tested positive for mephedrone, customs said.
The drugs weighed a total of 1040 grams, including the packing, and had a street value of MVR 1.8 million, customs said.
The seized drugs have now been handed over to the police for further investigation.
