CP Hameed assesses progress in Naeema's murder investigation

Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed, has visited Noonu Manadhoo to inspect the progress of the investigation into the murder of Naeema Moosa, who was found brutally murdered in Manadhoo in April.

Naeema, a 62-year-old woman who lived alone, was reported missing after she failed to show up for work and could not be contacted. On the evening of April 7, the police arrived at her residence and forcibly entered her room, where they found her lifeless body on the floor, bearing numerous stab wounds. Naeema was laid to rest on April 8 without a post-mortem examination.

During his visit to Manadhoo, Commissioner Hameed engaged with the island's residents and council to discuss the progress of the investigation. He also took the opportunity to meet with some members of Naeema's family, providing them with reassurance and support. He assured all parties that Naeema's killer would be brought to justice, according to Abdul Rahman Sabeeh, the President of the Manadhoo Council.

Despite the reassurance from the CP, the council president expressed concern due to the lack of progress in the investigation.

"No new information regarding Naeema's death has been shared by the Commissioner. This is a matter of great concern for me and the council."

Despite the passing of over a month since Naeema's tragic demise, the police have yet to make any significant headway in apprehending her killer. An investigation team is currently active in Manadhoo, collecting fingerprints and DNA samples from several individuals residing on the island.
