Higher Education Ministry's Deputy Minister signs up for main-ruling MDP

Higher Education Ministry's Deputy Minister Aminath Mohamed Saleem has signed up for the main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

In a ceremony held on Wednesday, Aminath Mohamed Saleem signed up for the MDP in the presence of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and MDP Chairperson and Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail. Aminath brought along with her 50 new members to the party, and President Solih personally received the application forms.

In an interview with AVAS, Aminath Mohamed said she signed up for the MDP because she did not believe that she could continue with her party, Jumhooree Party, due to the current situation in the party. She praised President Solih, stating that no other leader has contributed as much to the development of higher education as he has.

“We want to work to re-elect President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for a second term for these many reasons,” she said.

Aminath Mohamed was previously a council member of the JP.
