Authorities have seized drugs worth MVR 3.6 million that were smuggled into the country through courier.
The items were seized during a further search of a package brought to the Maldives from the UK via courier. Customs said two packets of suspected drugs were recovered from two packages searched on the 7th of this month.
According to customs, the packets weighed over 2 kg with packaging. Customs said initial testing came positive for a drug named Mefedron. The street value of the package contents is estimated to be over MVR 3.6 million.
Customs said the seized drugs had been handed over to the police.
