Immigration Controller signs up for main-ruling MDP

Immigration Controller Mohamed Ahmed Hussain (Hanafee) has signed up for the main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

Hanafee signed up for the MDP on Thursday, along with 60 family members.

Hanafeeā€™s membership form was personally received by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih at a special ceremony attended by MDP Chairman Fayyaz Ismail and several senior MDP officials.

Hanafee, who was a former member of the ruling coalition partner, the Jumhooree Party (JP), left the party after the party decided to contest the upcoming presidential election separately, despite an invitation from President Solih to continue the existing coalition alliance for the next presidential term.
