Drugs worth MVR 2 million smuggled into the Maldives by air have been seized by authorities.
Maldives Customs Service said the items were seized on August 21 while checking an air cargo shipment that arrived from Malaysia via flight 103UL. The items tested positive for heroin, according to customs.
Customs said the drugs weighed 1.6 kg and had a street value of MVR 2 million.
The seized drugs have been handed over to police for further investigation.
