Gov't to dredge 215 hectares of land for UTF plots

The government has decided to dredge 215 hectares of land from Uthuru Thila Falhu to provide land to individuals registered in the Male' Dhaftharu and long-term residents of Male'.

The Planning Ministry's State Minister Akram Kamaluddin Sunday released a drawing of the proposed dredging of Uthuru Thila Falhu. According to the plan, 215 hectares of land will be dredged, and the MNDF military harbor being developed on the island will be located away from the residential area.

The government has now decided to connect Uthuru Thila Falhu to Male' via the Thila Male' Bridge, which is currently under construction.

As part of a scheme announced on Sunday, land will be allocated to those who have resided in Male' for over 20 years, while flats will be provided to those with more than 15 years of city residency. Over 4,500 land plots will be designated from Uthuru Thila Falhu, with an additional 8,000 flats allocated from the Male' area.

An announcement by the Planning Ministry said the government has decided to allocate 5,525,000 square feet of land from Uthuru Thila Falhu for the purpose. The number of plots will be determined by evaluating the size of each plot allocated to selected applicants.

This initiative follows the recent land allocation to 19,842 eligible individuals under the Binveriyaa Scheme. The government is also set to allocate flats to 16,923 people eligible under the Gedhoruveriyaa Scheme.
