Mariyam Fizana Rasheed has been appointed as the CEO of the Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA).
MQA is an agency under the Ministry of Higher Education, Labor, and Skills Development. With this appointment, Fizana assumes the role of MQA CEO at the level of a State Minister of Higher Education.
Fizana takes over from Dr. Abdul Hannan, who served as MQA's CEO during the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Fizana, a sibling of Urbanco's Managing Director Fazul Rasheed, has previously served as Director General of MQA and Dean of the Faculty of Education at the Maldives National University (MNU).
