MNU training resort development to begin within two years

Higher Education Minister Dr. Mariyam Mariya has stated that the development of the training resort to be built in collaboration with the Maldives National University (MNU) will commence within the next two years.

The minister said the resort proposal has now been completed and is currently under review. She assured that the resort’s practical development will begin once investors are secured.

The training resort is intended to attract students from abroad to pursue education in the Maldives in tourism-related fields, as well as address the shortage of educated Maldivians in senior positions within the tourism sector.

According to the latest census, 40 percent of the tourism industry workforce are Maldivians, amounting to 22,337 individuals.
