China to provide $130 million in free aid to the Maldives

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced China's decision to provide 920 million yuan ($130 million) in free aid to the Maldives. The announcement was made by the president while speaking to reporters upon his return to the Maldives following a state visit to China.

The President said the funds will be utilized to implement the government's development projects in the Maldives. The president said a significant portion of China's free aid will be dedicated to the construction of roads in Male' City.

“The largest expenditure will be on the reconstruction of Male' City roads,” he said.

During the President's recent visit to China, the Maldives government signed 20 key agreements with the Chinese government.
