The opportunity to foster children in state custody has been opened to the public.
Last December, the government launched a program, "A family for Every Child", to raise children in state custody within a family. When the program began, there were 164 children in state custody.
In an announcement, the Social and Family Development Ministry said the opportunity is now open for those who wish to temporarily foster children in state care. Those interested are requested to contact the ministry on the 1433 hotline and note their names.
"A Family for Every Child" program seeks to match children in state custody with families willing to offer either long-term or permanent care. Those opting for temporary fostering commitments will be responsible for the child for a duration of two years.
