Local business tycoon, Mohamed Ali Janah has been appointed an advisor to the United Nations Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The announcement was made during the ongoing Fitur Fair in Spain. This marks the first instance of a Maldivian being appointed as an advisor to a UN organization.
In a post on his Facebook page, Janah said it was a great honor to be appointed as a UN advisor. He extended his thanks to UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili for the invaluable opportunity.
Janah, who also holds the position of ministerial-level advisor to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, emphasized his commitment to bringing about positive changes in the tourism sector, both in the Maldives and globally, in his new role as a UNWTO advisor.
