The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has mobilized an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) drone to aid in the search for a missing boat, Fairihi 2, which went missing while fishing off Meemu Raiymandhoo.
Following reports of the missing vessel received by the police at 10:06 pm on Friday, the information was relayed to MNDF at 10:45 pm.
MNDF's Information Officer confirmed to AVAS today the UAV is actively engaged in the search for the missing boat alongside ongoing efforts by sea.
The MNDF Air Corp was established in March this year. At the corp's inauguration, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu disclosed that the fleet's three UAV drones were donated by Türkiye.
