Maldives sees 2.42 percent increase in June arrivals

A total of 123,281 tourists visited the Maldives in June this year, statistics have shown.

According to the Maldives Immigration, this is up 2.42 percent from the 120,363 tourists that visited Maldives in the same period last year.

China topped the list of countries with most visitors, contributing 20.036 tourists in June. Russia followed with 14,865 tourists, and India was third with 10,018 tourists. The Maldives received 8,261 and 5,811 tourists respectively from the UK and Germany.

The Maldives received an average of 4,109 tourists per day last month.

According to the Tourism Ministry, more than one million tourists visited the Maldives in the first six months of this year. This is a nine percent increase compared to the same period last year.
