The Secretary General of Laamu Fonadhoo Council, Mohamed Faaiq, has been removed from the position.
The Fonadhoo Council initially sought Faaiq's dismissal through the Civil Service Commission (CSC) in May, citing his alleged failure to fulfill his duties and attend crucial meetings. He was dismissed on July 18, following an investigation by the CSC.
However, Faaiq denies the allegations against him. According to Faaiq, he was being removed from office for political reasons, due to his lack of support for the government-backed candidate, MP Abdul Raheem Abdullah (Adhurey), in the parliamentary election.
