Former Director of Administration at the Vice President's Office Aminath Maureena has said that she had not made a decision on whether she will testify on behalf of the former Vice President, adding that she did not wish to be a part of the defense witnesses.
Maureena, who became famous for hosting Maldivian Idol and a rumored close associate of the former VP, was listed as part of 13 witnesses by the defense.
Speaking to Avas, Maureena said she had not been formally notified that she was a material witness and that she had not made a decision on whether she will testify in Court. She also denied that she had been a personal assistant to the now deposed VP.
"To my knowledge, my name is not there. I have no idea how this occurred and do not want to be a witness," Maureen said in a phone interview to Avas.
"I don't believe I will give a statement. Have not made a decision. Not going to say that I will or won't give a statement,"
She said there was no truth to the rumors that she was a personal assistant to Adeeb.
"Mau was not Adeeb's personal assistant. [Vice President's Office's] Director of Administration. I carried out admin work there," Maureena said.
Charges of abuse of power had been filed against the ex-VP following the blast aboard the Presidential speedboat, "Finifenmaa". He has also been charged with terrorism in the same case.
