Busy day for Adeeb: three hearings scheduled for today

Three separate hearings on three cases filed against former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb will be held today. Even though he was arrested in connection to the explosion aboard the "Finifenmaa", various charges had been filed against him.

In connection to the "Finifenmaa" case, terrorism charges had been filed against Adeeb and two of his bodyguards. In addition, weapons possession charges and abuse of power charges had also been filed against him.

The hearings on the terror charges is scheduled for 10 am today, with statements from witnesses set on the agenda. Adeeb had submitted former President Maumoon and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim as witnesses. Many evidences and witnesses had been submitted to discovery by the defense.

Weapons possession charges were filed against Adeeb in connection to the May Day protests. Only one witness statement will be taken today; a Police officer's. The case has been scheduled for 3pm today. This is not a normal time for Criminal Court to convene.

Witness statements will be taken on the case filed against the deposed Vice President for abuse of power in connection to the "Finifenmaa" explosion. In addition to Aminath Maureena, Maldivian Idol presenter and former staffer at the VP office, the defense had presented many other witnesses as well. This hearing is scheduled for 1pm today.
