Broadcom orders not to show footage of Afrasheem documentary

Broadcasting Commission has ordered RaajjeTV not to broadcast clips of the documentary produced by the station over the murder of Parliamentarian Dr. Afrasheem Ali.

The clips, featuring an individual who claimed to have been interviewed by the Police over the murder, were broadcast in RaajjeTV’s “60 Minutes” program. The individual claimed to have been paid by the Police to testify that Humaam had murdered Afrasheem. He said he had been promised a payout of MVR 500000 for the testimony.

Broadcom said they had received a complaint over the clips, adding that they have begun investigation into the matter.

An official said the stay order was given as the case was under investigation.

RaajjeTV has stated that they were making a documentary on the murder of the late Parliamentarian. The clips broadcast were part of this documentary.
