Firefighters on Saturday insisted that the gas cylinder in a house in capital Male had not exploded but the hose pipe caught fire.
A woman and two children were hurt in the incident with the police confirming it as a gas cylinder explosion.
However, fighfighters later denied the report by insisting that the cylinder had not been damaged in the fire. The fire broke out as the regulator had not been securely fastened after the cylinder was replaced, firefighters added.
The injured victims had been rushed to state run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) but none had suffered any serious injuries.
