PPM certain to nab by-election win, says MP Abdul Raheem

Deputy leader of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and Fonadhoo constituency lawmaker Abdul Raheem Abdullah has mocked opposition over their blunder in comprehending Supreme Court's ruling regarding anti-defection rule. He also claimed that PPM would win the by-election of all the vacant constituencies by a landslide.

While speaking at a pro-government rally at "Rumaalu 2" camp on Monday night, the lawmaker and deputy leader of PPM taunted the opposition further by claiming the opposition's concerns over Supreme Court's ruling sparked over failing to fathom the just verdict. MP Abdullah said the pro-government and its allies support the transparent and unbiased verdict of Supreme Court - adding the ruling is a stark indication of the integrity of judicial system of Maldives.

The lawmaker slammed opposition, as he guaranteed a win for government run PPM for all six constituencies - with confidence. He also threw shade to the anti-government lawmakers stating the by-election would be a testament of President Yameen's rising popularity and the support from citizens.

President Abdulla Yameen had participated at Monday night's rally. However he had not delivered any speech.
