A man died Friday trying to swim to the opposition rally held in Faafu Atoll Magoodhoo island on Friday evening. Around 40 men had made the one hour 40 minutes journey from Bilehdhoo island in the same Atoll to the rally.
The man identified as Ibrahim Nahid had reportedly suffered a stroke shortly after he began the journey and had been rushed back to the health centre in Bilehdhoo island.
The man died as the centre was trying to rush him to the capital Male on a sea ambulance. According to sources, the victim had made the journey several times in the past and was reportedly in good health.
