Youth 2050 scholarship opportunity opens

Education Ministry on Thursday has announced the Youth 2050 scholarship opportunity.

The scholarship opportunity dubbed "Promoting Skills for the Future" was officially inaugurated by First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim - a scholarship initiative by the Higher Education Department of Ministry of Education to provide academic opportunities for individuals with exceptional academic proficiency.

Education Ministry states the scholarship opportunity covers for courses and educational skill enhancement programs organized and run by local academic institutes. Students will be able to pursue from certificate level to diploma entry scholarships under the Youth 2050 programme. Loans under the scholarship is expected to be issued prior to the college intakes.

The newly opened scholarship opportunity focuses on fields such as IT technicians, firefighting and plumbing, networking and laboratory technologists while the entry criteria includes completion of GCE O'Levels or A'Levels.

During Thursday's ceremony, Education Minister Aishath Shiham had highlighted on the importance of providing higher educational opportunities for youths. She also included that providing such enhancements for youths to pursue careers, is a vision of incumbent president Abdulla Yameen.

Minister Shiham claims that a total of 3,080 individuals have received higher educational and training opportunities under various programs from current administration.
