Teachers of a prominent government school in the capital Male are on strike after one of their colleagues was suspended over a scuffle with a student.
A teachers had been involved in a scuffle with a student on Monday for which the teacher had been suspended.
The teachers decided to go on strike over the unfair suspension demanding better protection and safety for the teachers.
The teacher stopped a student from entering another class. The student then had assaulted the teacher. The teacher had shoved the student in self-defense. But the school had suspended the teacher over the incident," a school official told AVAS on Tuesday.
It remains unclear whether the school had taken any action against the student.
