Opposition presidential candidate makes stance for 'national reform'

Opposition coalition nominated presidential candidate for the upcoming election, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said he is presenting the people's voice and making a stand for 'national reform.'

The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) parliamentary group leader who has been a favorite by many to run for top-office had described the said 'national reform' is to stop incumbent president Abdulla Yameen's administration from winning a second term.

Speaking at the ceremony held on Saturday morning to kick-start the opposition candidate's door-to-door campaign, Solih said he took the responsibility of running for top-office to drive the nation towards peace.

The MDP presidential candidate criticized current administration stating it was doused in corruption and injustice.

Solih also stressed on the importance of opposition holding its alliance and working towards a common goal beneficial to the country's public.

He also noted the direct visitation to each and every residence of the Maldives public is one of the opposition's main priority in seeking their opinion.

"The most important thing for us right now is to visit each and every citizen. I wish to achieve this with the contribution of everyone. Working in unison is the most important thing right now," Solih said during Saturday's speech.

The opposition coalition backed candidate had visited some of the capital city residences in order to hear the voice of common people.
