Opposition coalition presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has promised to review salaries and overtime work limitation on civil servant employees.
Discussing about his policy towards civil servants, Solih explained on RaajjeTV he criticized the fixed incentive for overtime work by the current administration. Solih added he is strictly against this practice and would thus abolish it if he gets elected as the next Maldives president.
Solih claimed that public sector employees should not work within a fixed incentive limit, especially noting contributions of nurses and teachers.
The opposition presidential candidate stressed on reviewing the salary structure of civil servants and claimed he had also planned amendments, which he promised will be revealed shortly in future.
Solih also suspected Civil Service Commission was already under government influence, and promised to release the commission from any political grip under his administration.
Furthermore, Solih noted that civil servants have the right to support any political ideology of their choice and it should not be dictated by the government.
