Opposition Pres candidate's vague response on five-year term

The opposition presidential candidate has given a very vague response regarding whether he will keep presidential seat for a five year term.

Initially when the campaign manifesto of opposition candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih was announced, it was reported that he will hold an interim government lasting two and half years.

The manifesto also read that post release of all political leaders an election will be held with the inclusion of the currently jailed politicians to determine a proper leader for the Maldives government.

However, several members of the opposition coalition later echoed they have agreed to accept a five year term of Solih's presidency.

During a press conference held on Monday Solih responded to a reporter's inquiry regarding the possibility of him taking office for a five year term as per Maldives Constitution, he said that the coalition's manifesto will reveal all details related to it.

Solih also assured the coalition endorsed manifesto will be unveiled within the next two days.
